- The Imaging Process: As with a traditional mammogram, your breast will be carefully compressed between two imaging plates. While the compression is necessary for a clear image and only lasts for a few seconds, our technologists are trained to be as gentle as possible.
- Advanced Imaging Arc: The X-ray arm of the mammography machine will then move in a gentle arc over your breast, capturing multiple low-dose images. These images are then digitally reconstructed to create a comprehensive 3D view of your breast tissue.
- A Quick and Efficient Exam: The entire procedure is typically completed in just 15 to 30 minutes.
Preparing for Your Visit: What to Wear
To ensure the highest quality images and a smooth appointment, please follow these important guidelines:
- Two-Piece Outfit: We strongly recommend wearing a two-piece outfit, such as a top with pants or a skirt. This will allow you to undress from the waist up and wear the provided gown, making the process more convenient for you.
- Avoid Deodorants and Lotions: Please do not apply any deodorant, antiperspirant, lotion, or perfume on the day of your exam. These products can contain metallic particles that may interfere with the imaging results.
- No Jewelry: Please remove any necklaces or other jewelry from your neck and chest area before your exam.
